Character: Ibu Shinji
What do they look like now: Pretty much the same as canon. He's grown taller and filled out as he got older, but not much else has changed. He let his hair grow out even longer, so it hangs just past his shoulders, and usually keeps it in a neat ponytail.

Current Job: Shinji's official job is a cashier at a local convenience store, but he does a lot of odd jobs on the side. He walks dogs, babysits, rakes leaves/shovels snow/mows grass as seasonally appropriate. He tutors kids, sometimes, and he's done an occasional house cleaning when money got tight.

Current family they may be living with, if any: None. Shinji lives alone.

Apartment size/requested address: A1005 - Economy

History: As a child, Shinji was bright and outgoing. He loved to talk to anybody and everybody who would listen, about absolutely anything and everything. He did well in early elementary school, and seemed popular.

His parents were strict, though, and didn't like how easily he talked to people he'd just met. They'd pull him away from a conversation and tell him how little the person wanted to listen to him prattling on and on and on about nothing important. Eventually, he was so eager to talk to the kids in his classes that when he did, his words came out so fast that they tended to slurr together. Before long, his classmates were making fun of him for the way he spoke.

So he stopped talking completely. Nobody wanted to listen anyway, so what was the point? He spent the better part of the rest of his school life silent, or very nearly so, speaking only when directly spoken to, and even then, his sentences were short, clipped. He focused greatly on his studies, was always at the top of his class, but never went to college. As with everything else in his life, his parents managed to convince him that he wouldn't succeed, no matter how hard he tried.

He keeps this nearly-silent lifestyle now, and seldom speaks to anyone unless they address him first. He still fights his urges to talk to people like he used to, and the sudden stops in his sentences when he prevents himself from rambling have made many people think he's antisocial and, sometimes, snobby. He's not. He just doesn't want to bore people with his 'mindless chatter'.
